Abstract
Parasitengona mites are among the most diverse groups within the order Trombidiformes and represent one of the largest taxonomic taxa within the Chelicerata, inhabiting both terrestrial and aquatic environments. The distribution of terrestrial parasitengona mites is primarily observed during their larval stage, when they are transported to new locations by attaching to hosts across various insect and arthropod orders. In Iran, two families Erythraeidae Robineau-Desvoidy, 1828 and Smarididae Vitzthum, 1929 have been identified from this superfamily. During the years 2021-2024, samples were collected from different regions of Sistan and Baluchestan Province to identify terrestrial parasitengona mites. A variety of collection methods were used, including direct collection from hosts, sweping, Berles-Tollgren funnel, pit traps, washing, and light traps. The specimens were cleared in lactophenol solution, and microscopic slides were made using Hoyer’s medium. As a result, a total of 14 species belong to family Erythraeidae were identified. Among them, three species are described as new to science (marked with *), five species are new reports for Iran (marked with **) and two species are first reporst for the Palaearctic region (marked with ***). The list of species by subfamilies as follow:
