Abstract |
The Mesquites shrub, Prosopis spp. (Leguminosae: Mimosoideae), is the dominant forest cover in the south of Sistan and Baluchestan province. The fauna of mites associated with Mesquites shrub has not been studied in Iran so far, and there is no knowledge about beneficial or plant feeding species of mites in this region. During a survey from 2022 to 2024 for collecting predator mites associated with Prosopis spp., samples were taken from the branches, leaves and also the soil under the Mesquites shrubs in the Konarak region, Sistan and Baluchestan province. In the laboratory, samples were segregated, clarified with lactic acid and then mounted in microscope slides by Hoyer’s medium. The identification process carried out using microscope Olympus BX 51 and related keys. Some specimens were sent to the related specialists for verification. In this study, 11 species belonging to eight families and four superfamilies were collected and identified as below. Species new to Sistan and Baluchestan fauna marked with one asterisk (*): Superfamily Raphignathoidea Kramer, 1877: Family Eupalopsellidae Willmann, 1952: Exothoris sp.*, Family Caligonellidae Grandjean, 1944: Neognayhus eupalopus Meyer & Ueckermann, 1989,* Molothrognathus mehrnejadi Liang & Zhang, 1977, Family Camerobiidae Southcott, 1957: Neophyllobius sp., Family Raphignathidae Kramer, 1877: Raphignathus zhaoi Hu, Jian & Liang, 1995, Raphignathus sp., Superfamily Bdelloidea: Family Bdellidae Dugés, 1834, Spinibdella cronini Baker & Blocker, 1944, Family Cunaxidae Thor, 1902: Cunaxa capreolus Berlese, 1889, Superfamily Cheyletoidea Leach. 1815: Family Cheyletidae Leach, 1815. Hemicheyletia sp.*, Superfamily Phytoseoidea: Family Phytoseiidae Berlese, 1916: Neoseiulus marginatus Wainstein, 1961. Typhlodromus bagdasarjani Wainstein & Arutunjan, 1967*. |
